CYBER SCAM ALERT
Esteemed recipients,
We write to alert you about a serious situation unfolding across social media platforms, particularly Instagram and now Facebook. Multiple individuals, including one of our esteemed club members, have fallen victim to a sophisticated hacking scheme, posing a significant threat to online security and personal privacy.
The modus operandi of this hacker is as follows:
Unauthorized Access: Hackers gain control of your Instagram account through undisclosed methods, locking you out of your own profile. (Don't get into any type of online money making or monitory scams)
False Recovery Process: When you attempt to report the hacking incident to Instagram's official email, the hackers swiftly send you a deceptive email from an address that closely mimics Instagram or Facebook domains. This deliberate ploy is aimed at confusing victims and making them doubt the authenticity of legitimate recovery emails.
WhatsApp Impersonation: The perpetrators then escalate their efforts by reaching out to you through WhatsApp, posing as Instagram officials. They convince you that they can help recover your account in real time.
(Do not share any OTP, or link with anyone)
OTP Extraction: During the WhatsApp conversation, the hackers coerce you into providing them with your OTP (One-Time Password) and recovery codes, effectively removing your ability to regain control via password recovery methods.
Total Account Hijacking: After extracting sensitive information, the hackers proceed to change your account's email address, contact number, and username, making it impossible for you to regain access to your own account.
Malicious Activity: Once in control, the hackers leverage your compromised account to post spam content related to Bitcoin, stock market ads, and other fraudulent activities. Hacker uses ur identity and reputation inorder to make several more victims by the method of identity theft.
Isolation and De-linking: To ensure that you are completely isolated and unable to seek assistance, the hackers disconnect your account from recovery methods, including any linked Meta or other platform accounts. Your online security is of paramount importance. Stay vigilant, educate yourselves about digital threats, and be cautious when interacting online. We encourage you to spread the word and share this warning with friends and family to prevent further victims falling prey to this malicious scam.
NOTE: If by chance in anyway u fall prey to this scam. Immediately report your account and ask others to report it too.
