On Saturday (April 15), Mandeep Singh Sidhy, the Commissioner of Police in Ludhiana, inaugurated a new digital forensic lab at the Sarabha Nagar police station exclusively serving the Ludhiana range. This lab will lighten the load on the Mohali lab and expedite research. Currently, getting forensic results from Mohali requires months of waiting for Ludhiana police.

The lab offers data extraction services from a variety of electronic devices, including computers, hard drives, SIM cards, microSD cards, tablets, and mobile phones. In the past, according to Commissioner Sidhu, police had to travel to the state cybercrime cell's Digital Investigation Training and Analysis Centre (DITAC) lab in Mohali to obtain these services for various cases, which led to delays in sending the results to the appropriate districts because of the high volume of work.
According to Sidhu, the Ludhiana lab would also help with the investigation of cybercrimes and quick inquiries. He continued by saying that the lab will end delays in looking at electrical gadgets and speed up examinations.
