In his address, Shri Amit Shah said that if forensic science experts are not available, then the contribution of forensic science to the criminal justice system cannot be realised .

Mr Shah said that for some Heinous crimes, forensic investigation needs to be mandatory , and to make it mandatory of forensic investigation to cases with punishment more than six years, the country needs to produce 8000 to 10,000 forensic experts per year for next nine years. He also mentioned that before establishment of NFSU the capacity of producing forensic experts per year was only 500 which can never fulfil the demand and after establishment of NFSU it reached up to 1000 experts per year.

He said that NAFIS App has been launched recently which has data of about 1.5 crore fingerprints. He informed that within three months of its launch, 10,000 cases including a 22 years old case, were resolved immediately.
